Tongue Cancer Patient: Throat Pain Reduced After 10 Doses of Medication

March 23, 2026

Mr. Yu, a 58-year-old male patient from Dalian City, Liaoning Province, was treated at Jiaozuo Zhonghai TCM Cancer Hospital for tongue cancer. Six months ago, he noticed a swollen lymph node on the left side of his neck. Examination at a local hospital confirmed squamous cell carcinoma (left cervical lymph node), and further testing identified the primary lesion as squamous cell carcinoma of the left base of the tongue.
Subsequently, Mr. Yu underwent 8 cycles of chemotherapy, 3 sessions of immunotherapy, and 33 sessions of radiotherapy at the local hospital. However, the side effects of treatment caused him great suffering.
At the time of consultation at our hospital, he presented with:
• Severe throat pain, dryness, and ulcers due to radiotherapy, which seriously affected eating and speaking
• Darkening and ulceration of the neck skin as a result of radiotherapy
• Significant weight loss from 90 kg to 80 kg in a short period
• Extreme physical weakness
Upon the recommendation of a friend, he came to Jiaozuo Zhonghai TCM Cancer Hospital seeking traditional Chinese medicine treatment.
After carefully evaluating his condition and treatment history, Director Zhang determined that his primary issues were radiation-induced toxic side effects and impaired physical function. A personalized TCM treatment plan was formulated:
• An empirical formula for tongue tumors, modified according to his symptoms
• Combined with Hua’ai Xiaoliu Powder
The goal was to relieve symptoms, repair tissue damage, and strengthen his overall constitution.
After taking 10 doses of the herbal medicine, Mr. Yu reported:
・reduction in throat pain
• Improved mental state
• Beginning of recovery in the neck skin

After continuing treatment with 20 more doses, his condition further improved:
• Neck skin condition continued to get better
• Throat pain decreased steadily
• General condition recovered well
• Weight gradually stabilized
