Mr. Zhang, a 71-year-old male patient with lymphoma from Luohe City, Henan Province, was treated at Jiaozuo Zhonghai Traditional Chinese Medicine Oncology Hospital. Ten months ago, a chance touch led him to discover swelling in the left cervical lymph nodes. He subsequently underwent surgical resection at a local hospital, and the postoperative diagnosis was mantle cell lymphoma (classic type) of the left deep cervical lymph nodes. This result was like a bolt from the blue, bringing a heavy blow to Mr. Zhang and his family.
After the operation, Mr. Zhang did not choose radiotherapy or chemotherapy, but instead took traditional Chinese medicine locally for ten months. During this long treatment process, he fought the illness with great hope, expecting to overcome it through the power of TCM. However, the progression of the disease did not meet his expectations. Now, to seek further TCM treatment, he came to our hospital on the recommendation of a local clinic doctor.
At the initial consultation, Mr. Zhang’s physical condition was worrying. Edema of the neck and face, chest edema, and edema of both lower limbs caused him great suffering. Compression from the cervical lymph nodes led to difficulty breathing and stiffness of the lower jaw, which not only affected his normal life but also caused immense psychological pressure. At the same time, symptoms such as cough with little phlegm, chest tightness and shortness of breath, and hoarseness tormented him constantly, significantly reducing his appetite and sleep quality.
After a detailed understanding of the patient’s condition, Director Zhang of our hospital formulated a treatment plan: an empirical formula for lymphoma (adjusted according to symptoms) + Hua’ai Xiaoliu Powder (Anti-Cancer Tumor-Eliminating Powder) + bleomycin, with a 10‑day initial course to observe the effect.
After taking 8 doses of the Chinese herbal medicine, Mr. Zhang’s condition gradually improved. The edema of the neck and face, chest edema, and edema of both lower limbs all significantly decreased. The difficulty breathing caused by lymph node compression was relieved, and the stiffness of the lower jaw also improved. More encouragingly, the cough basically disappeared, the scanty phlegm improved, chest tightness and shortness of breath were almost gone, and the hoarseness also got better. As the physical discomfort gradually eased, Mr. Zhang’s appetite and sleep quality improved significantly, and his overall condition was obviously better.
