Mr. Wang, a 68-year-old male patient with esophageal cancer from Jining City, Shandong Province, was treated at Jiaozuo Zhonghai Traditional Chinese Medicine Oncology Hospital. Due to difficulty swallowing, a choking sensation, and pain while eating, he underwent examinations at a local hospital and was diagnosed with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma. No surgery, radiotherapy, or chemotherapy was performed locally. On the recommendation of a recovered patient, he came to our hospital for treatment on March 20, 2025.
At the time of consultation: he experienced impaired swallowing and difficulty eating, accompanied by obvious choking and pain. He frequently vomited mucus and had hiccups. His appetite was poor, but his sleep quality was good, his mental state was fair, and his bowel and bladder functions were basically normal. Upon palpation, a swollen lymph node was felt on the right side of his neck, hard in texture and difficult to move. His tongue was pale with a white, greasy coating, and his pulse was string-like and slippery.
Based on the above condition, Director Zhang of our hospital formulated a treatment plan after a detailed understanding of his situation. He was prescribed the hospital’s proprietary preparation “Chuye Powder” for 10 days, combined with 10 vials of bleomycin hydrochloride. This integrated Chinese-Western medicine treatment was given for a 10‑day observation period, with close monitoring of his condition.
After only 4 days of treatment, Mr. Wang’s appetite improved significantly, the choking sensation during meals was greatly reduced, and his swallowing function began to get better.
