What are the common symptoms of gastric cancer

December 01, 2023

Gastric cancer, also known as gastric cancer, is a common malignant tumor that usually originates in cells lining the stomach mucosa. While the early symptoms of stomach cancer may not be obvious, they often become more noticeable once it progresses to later stages. Here are some common stomach cancer symptoms:

53

1. Digestive issues: One of the most common early symptoms is digestive issues. This includes acid reflux, heartburn, loss of appetite, and early satiety. These symptoms may cause patients to eat less because they may feel full quickly after eating or experience discomfort shortly after eating.

2. Abdominal pain and discomfort: People with stomach cancer may experience abdominal pain or discomfort, especially when eating. This pain may occur in different areas of the stomach, depending on the location of the tumor.

3. Wasting and weight loss: Patients with gastric cancer often experience unexplained weight loss and body weight loss. This is because tumors may affect appetite, causing patients to not eat enough calories, which can lead to weight loss.

4. Nausea and vomiting: Nausea and vomiting are also common symptoms of gastric cancer, especially when the cancer progresses to an advanced stage. These symptoms may lead to dehydration and malnutrition.

5. Melena or vomiting blood: When gastric cancer invades the inner blood vessels of the stomach wall, the patient may have melena or vomiting with blood. This is an emergency situation and requires immediate medical attention.

6. Feelings of fatigue and weakness: People with stomach cancer may experience fatigue and weakness, which may be caused by weight loss, anemia, or the body's reaction to the cancer.

7. Hoarseness: In some cases, stomach cancer may compress or invade the nerves in the throat or larynx, causing hoarseness.

It's important to note that these symptoms don't necessarily mean a person has stomach cancer, as they can be associated with other health problems as well. However, if you or someone you know develops these symptoms, especially if they persist for weeks or months, seek medical attention as soon as possible. Early diagnosis of gastric cancer can improve the success rate of treatment, so early detection and treatment are very important. Regular physical examinations and paying attention to changes in health status are also keys to preventing stomach cancer.
