Mr. Huang, a 74-year-old male patient with gingival cancer from Qi County, Kaifeng City, Henan Province, was treated at Jiaozuo Zhonghai TCM Cancer Hospital. In February 2025, he experienced tooth pain and took painkillers and anti-inflammatory drugs locally, but his symptoms did not improve. Ten days before admission, due to worsening tooth pain, he underwent a pathological examination (biopsy of the gingival mass) at the Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University and was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. Because of his advanced age, he was unwilling to undergo surgery, radiotherapy, or chemotherapy, and instead took oral cephalosporin antibiotics at home, but with little effect. Later, through online research, he learned that Jiaozuo Zhonghai TCM Cancer Hospital has distinctive features and advantages in the TCM treatment of gingival cancer, so he came to our hospital on April 10, 2025, hoping to alleviate his pain, control disease progression, and eliminate the gingival mass.
At the time of consultation, he presented with a mass on the left gingiva causing severe pain that affected his sleep. His appetite and bowel/bladder functions were normal. After carefully evaluating his condition, Director Zhang formulated a TCM treatment plan focused on strengthening vital qi to eliminate pathogenic factors, resolving phlegm and dissipating masses, and promoting blood circulation to remove blood stasis, prescribing 10 doses of herbal medicine.
