Ms. Zheng, a 68-year-old female patient with peritoneal metastatic adenocarcinoma from Yan’an City, Shaanxi Province, was treated at Jiaozuo Zhonghai Traditional Chinese Medicine Oncology Hospital. Ms. Zheng underwent an examination at a local hospital due to abdominal distension and was found to have a large amount of ascites. She then underwent ascitic fluid drainage, and a pathological examination of the aspirated fluid indicated metastatic adenocarcinoma (from an omental biopsy), most likely of female reproductive system origin. Further examinations revealed a pelvic mass, extensive soft tissue shadows in the abdominal and pelvic cavities, and multiple metastatic lymph nodes in the abdominopelvic region, retroperitoneum, and bilateral cardiophrenic angles. Local doctors determined that surgery was not possible, and because the patient was physically weak, her family also worried that she could not tolerate the side effects of radiotherapy and chemotherapy, leaving them in a difficult situation.
Fortunately, on the recommendation of a kind-hearted person, Ms. Zheng came to Jiaozuo Zhonghai Traditional Chinese Medicine Oncology Hospital. At the time of consultation, she experienced radiating pain near the scapula on her back, significant fatigue, poor sleep, and abdominal distension caused by a large amount of fluid in the abdominal and pelvic cavities. Her appetite was average, and her bowel and bladder functions were relatively normal. After gaining a thorough understanding of her condition, Director Zhang of our hospital formulated a treatment plan based on an empirical formula for pelvic tumors combined with Hua’ai Xiaoliu Powder (Anti-Cancer Tumor-Eliminating Powder), along with oral capecitabine and chemotherapy.
During the treatment process, Ms. Zheng persisted in taking 30 doses of traditional Chinese medicine, received two infusions of oxaliplatin, and completed two courses of capecitabine. Gratefully, after treatment, her various symptoms gradually disappeared, and a color ultrasound examination showed that the ascites had also completely resolved. This not only relieved Ms. Zheng’s physical suffering but also brought new hope to her family.
