Colorectal cancer screening can reduce the mortality of colorectal cancer, but even in developed countries such as Europe and the United States, the number of people receiving colorectal cancer screening is less than 50%. How to improve the compliance of the screening program and increase the screening rate is a common problem to be solved. For China, there is no complete national colorectal cancer screening statistics, which is a major disadvantage for the formulation of national screening strategy.
In early 2007, the Ministry of Health of the people's Republic of China organized and formulated the "Technical Plan for early diagnosis and early treatment of Colorectal Cancer". In this scheme, the mathematical model assessment questionnaire of risk factors and FOBT were used as the primary screening methods for the general population. The main risk factors involved in the assessment questionnaire included family history of colorectal cancer, history of cancer or intestinal polyps and symptoms related to colorectal cancer.
From the flow chart of screening, early diagnosis and early treatment, it can be seen that the purpose of risk factor mathematical model evaluation is to select the high-risk population from the general population (the evaluation result is positive) for further screening, but for the population with negative evaluation result (similar to the asymptomatic average risk population), there is no further risk stratification analysis except for immunological FOBT screening. As far as the current popularity of medical care in China is concerned, it may not be possible to popularize FOBT all over the country, so it is conceivable whether we can obtain simple and easy information for ordinary people, such as name, sex, height, weight, diet pattern, tobacco and alcohol hobby, etc., first carry out risk stratification, and then further focus on screening people with high risk coefficient, so as to save medical resources and improve the rate of diagnosis, which is worthy of further consideration and research.
