Generally speaking, the chance of tumor recurrence and metastasis is high within two years after operation, so patients are required to be reexamined regularly after operation. The arrangement of reexamination time: once every 3-6 months within 2 years after operation, once every half a year from 3 to 5 years, and once a year after 5 years. Of course, if there is any discomfort in this process, you should go to the hospital in time.

2. Items of postoperative reexamination of gastric cancer.

The items to be reviewed include: clinical physical examination, blood routine, liver and kidney function, electrolytes, blood glucose, blood lipids, blood coagulation items, tumor markers. Objects (such as CEA, CA19-9, CA125, etc.) should be examined at least once a year by gastroscopy, chest and abdomen enhanced CT examination, liver magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and whole body PET-CT examination if necessary.

3. Does the increase of tumor markers indicate recurrence?

There are many reasons for the increase of tumor markers, even including some benign diseases. In some cases, there may be false positive (that is, it is not this kind of disease, but it is found to be increased). According to the patient's condition, the previous level of tumor markers and the results of other gastroscopy and CT, tumor recurrence should not be diagnosed solely on the basis of elevated tumor markers, but the increase of tumor markers indicates a high possibility of tumor recurrence. We should pay enough attention to it, see a doctor actively and find out the cause.
