Is gastric cancer more dangerous as it gets bigger When is it recommended to do gastroscopy

August 16, 2023

1. Is gastric cancer more dangerous as it gets bigger?
The size of gastric cancer is not directly related to the risk of gastric cancer. The risk of gastric cancer is related to the degree of differentiation of gastric cancer cells, the depth of invasion of gastric wall, the presence of vascular and nerve invasion, the presence of cancer cells in lymph nodes and the presence of metastasis in other organs. However, usually when the diameter of gastric cancer is larger, to a certain extent, it reflects that the tumor may grow for a longer time, and the greater the possibility of abdominal pelvic and visceral organ metastasis, so abdominal physical examination can touch patients with gastric lumps, there is also a certain reason for the general disease period to be late.

2. When is gastroscopy recommended?

Gastroscopy is generally recommended under the following conditions:

Have upper gastrointestinal symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, acid regurgitation, belching. Upper abdominal pain and other conditions, do not rule out esophageal, gastric, duodenal ulcers, inflammation, tumors and other diseases.

Unexplained anemia, unexplained fatigue, emaciation, do not rule out digestive tract diseases.

In patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, especially in cases such as black stool and hematemesis, the etiology and location of bleeding are not clear, so gastroscopy is recommended to further clarify the condition.

For the high-risk group of upper digestive tract tumors, gastroscopy is recommended for precancerous lesions and tumor screening.

The therapeutic effect of ulcer and Helicobacter pylori was evaluated.

Gastroscopy is recommended for regular reexamination of gastric cancer after operation.

Some diseases such as gastric polyps need to be treated under gastroscopy.
